Iowa Trip 2009 Tulip & Tractors

Tractor's and Tulip's
Tulip Festival 2009
Orange City, Iowa

Iowa Trip 2009

The beginning of the Tulip Festival
Orange City, Iowa 2009

Just showing their attire of their homeland

More of the clothing of the era
Here is the Inspector, in Red, he has
to inspect the road to make sure it's
clean enough for the Queen, and as
usual it's never clean enough so,

they have to bring in the street cleaners
men & boys dump the water on the street

and after the water is dumped
then the women & girls
have to follow up with the brooms
and sweep the street clean for
the Queen

Then the color quard

and the army start the parade

This is the Dutchmen of Orange City

What a nice setup

Just some of the floats

Remember the little boy with his
finger in the dike,
he had to have some help
from his sisters

Notice the unicycle rider
and he is juggling as he rides
and this was the end of the parade

Iowa Trip 2009

Not really much going on here today. We just mostly sat around and took it easy for the day. We were waiting for the evening to go to the Tulip Festival Carnival. They are having carnival rides for the night in the middle of town. Will post some of those picks later. So we got tired of sitting around so we decided to just go for a drive. Here are some of the photos we shot while driving around.

Now this is what I call a tractor.

The windmill out front of Vogel Paints.

This was a beautiful church in Alton.

Just messing around

Now these are some tractors

Iowa Trip 2009

Tues 10:00am 5:12:09

Marita made us a wonderful stuuuufed omelet. We then headed into Sioux Center, IA to hit the mall. After that we went to Wal-Mart and did a little shopping.
After that we went by a wonderful smelling Dairy Farm, check out all the Dog houses that they use to keep the calf's from getting sun burnt or to cold.

Then we headed back to Rita and Ernie's and relaxed until 5:00 pm. Debbie wanted to go out and dance at the school. So we headed over to the MOC-Floyd Valley High School. Debbie had a wonderful time dancing. Until she was done then she was ready to pass out. We got back to M&R around 7:30, Pete,Rita and Ernie stayed home. Pete wanted to watch the basketball games.
Debbie decided to play UNO we finished the game at 5 minutes until midnight. Updated this info and we headed to bed.
Here is a very big windmill next
door to the high school.
